Kuripe Palo Santo Crystal — with Aya and turquoise

A hand-crafted Kuripe – the traditional V-shaped self-applicator for Rapé – made by artisans in Peru. Two tubes of fragrant Palo Santo wood are joined by a metal band with spiral ornaments, set with a turquoise stone and a slice of the Aya vine, and finished with a clear crystal point.

It comes on a black cord, so it can be worn as a pendant and kept close between ceremonies. Every piece is handmade and unique – the grain of the wood and the pattern of the vine are never the same twice.

        What makes this Kuripe special

        The wood

        Palo Santo

“Holy wood” of South America – fragrant wood with a striking light and dark grain, traditionally used for cleansing a space.
        The vine

        Aya

A slice of the Aya vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) shows its natural flower-like cross-section – the “vine of the soul” of Amazonian tradition.
        The stone

        Turquoise

A blue-green stone set in the metal band, traditionally associated with protection and the throat chakra.
        The crystal

        Crystal point

A clear crystal point at the end of the Kuripe – in tradition a symbol of clarity and focused intention.

These are traditional and symbolic associations, not guaranteed effects.

        What is a Kuripe?

The Kuripe is a small V-shaped pipe that connects the mouth and the nose. Unlike the longer Tepi, which is used by a second person, the Kuripe is a personal tool – which is why many people choose one that feels truly their own.

In Amazonian tradition, a personal Kuripe is treated with respect and kept clean. Read more in our article Kuripe – self-applicator for Rapé.

        One of a kind

Each Kuripe is carved and assembled by hand by Peruvian artisans. Natural materials mean that the colour of the wood, the pattern of the vine slice and the shade of the stone differ from piece to piece – the item you receive may vary slightly from the photos.

Its comfortable medium size fits easily in the hand, and the cord lets you carry it with you as a pendant.
