Possible side effects of CBD or CBG

Is CBD and CBG safe? How can we avoid possible inconveniences with its use?

As such, both CBD and CBG are generally natural and safe substances that can be taken both internally and externally. Even so, they have potential side effects that may or may not occur.

Most people do not experience any side effects when using products containing CBD or CBG. Animal and volunteer studies have had very different results in demonstrating an association with side effects. Although some claim that no side effects are observed when using CBD, some users have reported them, it should be noted that few studies have looked at the effects of hemp, meaning that people have used not only non-psychoactive CBD, but also THC. Most consumers can take CBD in high doses without negative effects. Doses that are still considered safe are up to 1,500 mg per day, but most patients find a dose of around 15 mg helpful.

However, it is advisable to warn potential users that side effects and interactions with conventional treatment may occur, especially when doses are exceeded or when starting treatment. Severity and type may vary from person to person.

The most common side effects of CBD

The most common side effects of CBD include drowsiness, gastrointestinal problems, dry mouth, decreased appetite, nausea, and interactions with other medications.

        • Drowsiness
        • Anxiety
        • Changes in appetite
        • Mood swings
        • Dizziness
        • Dry mouth
        • Nausea
        • Vomiting
        • Interaction with other drugs
        • Gastrointestinal problems - diarrhea

        Drowsiness

Some common side effects when using CBD include drowsiness and sedation. This effect is also considered a benefit. dr. Jas Matharu-Daley, MD, notes that the effects can be too strong if you take CBD with other sedative drugs or herbs.

        Gastrointestinal problems

Some people may get diarrhea or have liver problems when taking CBD. It depends on the individual and his medical history, diseases. Regarding treatment with CBD, it is important to consult a doctor if he is inclined towards CBD.

        Dry mouth

CBD can potentially make your mouth and eyes very dry. Although this side effect is more likely to occur with THC, it can also occur with CBD.

It may interact with other medications

CBD can interact with other "western medicine drugs" you are taking. It is important to talk to your doctor about whether CBD can affect the effects of your prescribed medications.

Medications that CBD may interact with

For example, CBD should not be used with certain types of medication used to treat epilepsy. CBD inhibits an enzyme called cytochrome P450 (CYP450), which is used to metabolize some drugs. By interfering with CYP450, CBD may increase the toxicity or decrease the effectiveness of these drugs. Other drugs that may cause unusual reactions when taken at the same time and that you should consult with your doctor in advance are:

        • Anti-arrhythmic drugs such as quinidine.
        • Anticonvulsants - Tegretol (carbamazepine) and Trileptal (oxcarbazepine).
        • Antifungals – Nizoral (ketoconazole) and Vfend (voriconazole).
        • Antipsychotics – Orap (pimozide).
        • Atypical antidepressants – Remeron (mirtazapine).
        • Benzodiazepine sedatives - Klonopin (clonazepam) and Halcion (triazolam).
        • Immunosuppressive drugs - Sandimmune (cyclosporine).
        • Macrolide antibiotics – clarithromycin and telithromycin.
        • Medicines for the treatment of migraine - Ergomar (ergotamine).
        • Opioid pain relievers – Duragesic (fentanyl) and alfentanil.
        • Rifampicin-based drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis.

If you're taking these medications, that doesn't mean you have to give up CBD support. Many of these interactions are mild and do not require treatment modification. It is often enough to take CBD a few hours apart from a dose of medication. It depends on how the drugs are metabolized. Your doctor will definitely advise you in this regard.

        Nausea

In some cases, those taking CBD supplements may experience nausea. This depends on how sensitive a person is to CBD as well as the amount they are taking.

Because CBD supplements come in many different forms—such as oils, gummies, tinctures, and vapes—the amount actually absorbed can vary greatly. This variety, combined with each person's unique sensitivities, will ultimately affect which (and if any) CBD side effects you may experience.

        Studies

Many studies investigating the side effects of CBD are still in their infancy. However, information from completed studies shows that most people tolerate CBD products very well, so there is no need to worry too much.

These side effects are the most commonly reported. If you are new to using CBD or other hemp products with a higher cannabinoid content, it is important to observe how your body reacts to them and adjust accordingly.

To eliminate possible side effects, buy only laboratory-tested and certified CBD oil. In this way, you will be sure not only of health safety, but also of the fact that CBD oil contains a sufficient, guaranteed amount of the active substance. We wish you a pleasant and safe use.
