        Ceiba pentranda Samauma tree

The tree is called Ceiba pentranda and its roots are called sapobemba. These roots are used to communicate with the forest. This tree can live up to 500 years and some specimens reach a height of 70 meters and are among the largest trees in the world. Usually, the natives collected samuma ashes by burning fallen tree branches because the samauma tree is the oldest guardian of the jungle and therefore the rarest of all. It is able to transport water from the depths of the Amazon soil and bring it to great heights not only for its own supply, but also for sharing with other species. The Indians believe that Samaumá is the abode of spirits that live in the forest. It is also known as the "Ladder of Heaven" which creates a connection between heaven and earth.
