Usage Incense
Jatobá Rapé (Hapé) is one of the rare and powerful shamanic blends used by several Amazonian tribes, especially the Huni Kuin (Kaxinawá), Kuntanawa, and Guarani-Kayowá. Its main ingredient comes from the bark and resin of the Jatobá tree (Hymenaea courbaril), a majestic species of the Amazon rainforest, treasured for centuries for its healing, energetic and spiritual properties.
For these tribes, Jatobá is closely connected with grounding, spiritual strength and protection. The blend is prepared from the ashes of this sacred tree and is sometimes combined with other medicinal plants to create a harmonious and potent mixture.
Energetic and Spiritual Effects
Jatobá Rapeh carries a powerful yet caring energy, working primarily through the heart chakra.
-
Promotes emotional balance and inner harmony
-
Connects masculine energy with care and protection
-
Works with the solar plexus, third eye, crown and throat chakras
-
Supports meditation, focus and spiritual ceremonies
Interestingly, at first it acts in a similar way to eucalyptus Hapé – refreshing and cleansing – but after a few moments it transforms and works like Paricá, subtly yet deeply healing in the heart.

Traditional Rituals and Cultural Meaning
In Guarani-Kayowá culture, Jatobá Rapeh has a strong ceremonial and social significance. During collective dance rituals, hundreds of natives gather, sing and adorn themselves with sacred body paintings. These drawings symbolise strength, joy and unity, while Jatobá Hapé helps the community to maintain focus, rhythm and harmony throughout the ceremony.
Traditional healing Benefits and Physical Properties of Jatobá
Beyond its spiritual dimension, Jatobá Rapeh is highly valued for its traditional medicinal uses:
-
Strengthens the immune system
-
Regulates blood pressure
-
Relieves blocked nose and supports the respiratory system
-
Helps clear mucus and swelling
-
Improves brain performance thanks to its magnesium content
-
Acts as a natural tonic that helps restore the body’s balance
In Amazonian folk medicine, the resin and bark of Jatobá have been used against colds, bronchitis, diarrhoea, stomach pain, inflammation and bloating. It also contains phytic acid, which supports the reduction of inflammation and irritation. Jatobá Rapeh is considered a natural energy booster without caffeine or artificial stimulants.
