This strong blend is made from the rest of ayahuasca that is attached to the bottom of the pan. This tropical vine can grow up to 30 meters in length, twining on other plants for support. Caapi vine can become old of age and up to 100 years and older. Banisteriopsis caapi, a vine, is the primary ingredient of Aya, a traditional medicinal tea from the Amazon region. A tea with just the caapi vine is called Aya.

Some indigenous people distinguish more than 40 species of Caapi vine. Indigenous shamans and others say that they can enter a different state of mind with an infusion of only the B. Caapi.
