Jagube — the vine of the soul

Rapé Jagube is a ceremonial blend built on the sacred vine Banisteriopsis caapi, known among the peoples of the Amazon by many names – Jagube, Yagé, Caapi or Mariri. In Indigenous tradition it is revered as the “vine of the soul”, a bridge to the spiritual realm and to ancestral wisdom.

Of all our blends with this vine, it is the most grounded and supportive. In tradition it is associated with ceremony, inner depth, spiritual strength and endurance, and the world of dreams.

        A bridge to the ancestors

For the peoples of the Amazon, Jagube is more than a plant – it is a teacher and a pathway to the deep wisdom of the forest and of one’s own ancestral line. Its energy is described as moving upward and inward, while remaining rooted. In tradition it is said to give spiritual strength and endurance, to fortify mind and spirit, and to support a deeper spiritual connection.

        Banisteriopsis caapi

Jagube is a large woody liana of the Amazon rainforest that climbs high into the canopy. Different peoples know it as Jagube, Yagé, Caapi, Mariri or Cipó – names that reflect how widely it is honoured across the Amazon basin.

In our collection, the vine appears in three blends with distinct characters: Jagube grounds and leads inward, {a("/rape-aya-kuntanawa-d53","Aya")} integrates emotions and {a("/rape-mariri-shawadawa-d126","Mariri")} ceremonially cleanses.
