Jurema has been used by shamans since ancient times as one of the most powerful plants with spiritual power that brings healing visions, supports clairvoyance and mediumship abilities. It is an excellent tool for cleaning energy. Rapé from Jurema penetrates deep into the energy field and brings power that first manifests gently, but gradually increases its vibrations and works with the energy of the heart and heart chakra.
The Katukina people consider Jurema good for "opening vision, working with the 3rd eye, increasing lucid dreaming and even supporting astral projection during sleep".
Jurema Preta (black, also known as Mimosa Hostilis) is a shrub from the leguminous family that occurs naturally in northeastern Brazil, but also in El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela. It is traditionally used for medicinal and spiritual purposes, with its bark used for healing.
Tribal communities used Jurema to enter the world of the dead, while its effects were manifested mainly during ceremonies that preceded war expeditions. Jurema helped the tribe members stay awake all night before the fight and be connected to their healing visions. There are many sacred songs and Icaros that celebrate the power of Jurema.
Products from this tree are particularly useful for skin care, especially in the case of wrinkles, cold sores, acne, scars, eczema, burns, stretch marks, cellulite or cuts. Bark powder contains 16% tannins, which have an astringent effect, stopping bleeding and helping to protect the skin from infection while new protective tissue is formed. Currently, Tepezcohuite (the Mayan name for Mimosa Hostilis) is used in cosmetics to produce hair and skin products that support their regeneration.
