The botanical story
Erythrina mulungu
Mulungu is a tree native to Latin America, found from Costa Rica to Brazil. It grows up to around 10 metres tall and is also known by names such as colorines or chilicote. In the dry season it covers itself with striking red-orange blossoms, which is why its family is known as the coral trees.
Indigenous peoples have honoured the bark of Mulungu for generations as a plant of calm and peace. In this Rapé, the ash of the bark is ground into a fine powder that carries the tree’s deeply tranquil spirit.
