Samaumá — the Mother of the Forest
Rapé Samaumá is a beautiful ceremonial blend of the Kuntanawa people, connected with the great Samaumá tree – the largest tree of the Amazon, honoured as the “Mother of the Forest”. In Amazonian tradition this majestic tree symbolises the union of heaven and earth.
Its very fine texture and gentle yet powerful character bring heart energy, harmony and deep forest wisdom into quiet ceremonial practice – in tradition it is associated with meditation, prayer, connection with nature and with the ancestors.

The botanical story
Ceiba pentandra
Samaumá (Ceiba pentandra), also known as kapok, is the giant of the Amazon. It can grow over 60 metres tall, rising above the forest canopy, and rests on enormous buttress roots that spread like walls around its trunk. Forest peoples say that knocking on these roots carries sound far through the jungle.
Its pods hold a soft, silky fibre that drifts on the wind with the seeds. In our collection you will also find Rapé Samaumá Huni Kuin, prepared by another tribe to its own recipe.
